The project "Safe and Interoperable Transport System in Moldova" was successfully completed in Moldova
The second Lithuanian Transport Safety Administration (LTSA) project "Safe and Interoperable Transport System in Moldova", launched in May, 2019, has come to an end. On September 23, the last mission was held, during which issues of railway transport safety and opening of the railway market were discussed.
The project involved six missions involving rail, road and shipping safety issues. During the meetings, Lithuanian transport structures shared their experience, lessons learned, and processes related to the fulfilment of their obligations to the European Union. The main challenges and main problems of the Moldovan transport sector were discussed.
During the closing event on September 24, the official Lithuanian experts' recommendations to Moldova and preliminary suggestions on the topics discussed during the project were presented. The project manager Justas Rašomavičius, summing up the results, was pleased with the achievements and the work carried out in response to the recommendations made in the first project.
Elena Cacicovschii, Head of Transport Department, Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure of Moldova, thanked Lithuanian experts for their work and participation in the missions. "We are grateful to the LTSA experts not only for their professionalism and knowledge, for their shared experience, but also for establishing a close relationship between our countries, which will allow us to continuously improve and move forward."
The project “Safe and Interoperable Transport System in Moldova” administered by LTSA was carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure of Moldova. The project is funded by the Development Cooperation and Democracy Support Programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a partial contribution from the LTSA.
